REGISTRATION & BLANKET DRIVE
The cost to participate in this benefit event is $10 per dog. This fee includes a goody bag, as well as participation in the Dog Costume Parade, Tricks-and-Treats for Dogs throughout Rhinebeck, and all event activities. Want a discount? Bring one used towel, blanket or sheet for each participating dog and receive a maximum of $1 off each registration. All used items will be donated to local shelters.

Registration will take place from 11-12:30pm out in front of Pause Dog Boutique.

This year we’re going right to the people! Proceeds from this event will benefit local families and pets in need. We will be purchasing Natura Pet products for distribution at area shelters, soup kitchens and rescue groups. In this tough economy, we believe that this effort will help families keep their pets, rather than having to give them up because they can’t afford to feed them. Special thanks to Armadillo Bar & Grill in Kingston - Merle is graciously helping us coordinate the food distribution at local sites - and Natura Pet, which has already agreed to donate food to help the cause get started.

PARKING
You can find parking throughout the Village or in the Municipal Lot on East Market Street. Please leave plenty of time to find parking. We encourage you to walk or carpool to the event – it’s sustainable and easier!
EVENT RULES
•    Dogs do not need to wear a costume to participate – even a simple collar or bandana (we have them in the store) will suffice.
•    All dogs must remain leashed with a handler at all times. Please no retractable leads. We prefer a 6’ lead or shorter.
(4' leads are best for this event)
•    Rabies and vaccinations must be current. All puppies must have received their puppy shots.
•    No dogs in heat please.
•    No aggressive dogs please.
•    No more than two dogs per handler please.
•    Stay on the designated parade route and pay attention to traffic.
•    Costumes must be safe and comfortable for dogs.
•    If your dog poops, please stop and pick it up. Poop bags will be included in the goody bags you receive at registration.
•    Have fun!
PARADE
The parade will begin on Garden Street, continue left on Market Street down to CVS, cross Market Street and continue left to cross at the main intersection, turn right on Montgomery Street and continue down the driveway next to Joovay, turn left onto Garden Street and conclude at Pause. Aside from crossing the street, the entire parade route will take place on sidewalks.

We are expecting 150+ dogs and for the parade to last 45 minutes. Costumed kids (and adults!) are invited to join in the fun.
Just want to watch the parade? No problem! Hang out on any of the sidewalks along the parade route.

human if desired – along the parade route – winning dog(s) get a gift basket filled with upscale dog-themed goodies

dogs allowed) – winning dog(s) get a gift basket filled with Dublin Dog, DuraDoggie, West Paw Design and Hugglehounds toys

Judging will be based on originality and first impression. Costumes that are deemed unsafe will not be considered. Judges TBA.

Costume contest results will be announced in front of Pause Dog Boutique immediately following the parade.

Parading/Costuming Tips for Dogs & Their Humans:

•    Keep the costume light and simple.
•    Be sure the costume is fitted properly – nothing should be hanging loose to the floor or pinching too tight.
•    Dogs must be able to breathe, bark, see, hear and move comfortably in their costume.
•    Remove any dangling accessories that can be a choking hazard.
•    Avoid masks and awkward props. Give your dog a trial run before the parade so she gets used to her costume.
•    Come prepared. Bring along anything you may need to make a quick costume fix. If it’s warm, consider bringing some
water to offer a quick drink along the way.
•    Bring your camera!
•    Share the sidewalk, obey all traffic signals and laws, hold your head up high and strut your stuff!

POST-PARADE FEAST-IVITIES
Raffle:

We will be hosting a raffle featuring incredible prizes donated by local businesses and dog-related companies. All proceeds will benefit the local families and pets in need. Be sure to purchase 4 tickets for just $1 or 25 tickets for $5. You must be present at 1:30pm to win.

Activities:

•   Dog-themed Jack-o-Lantern Contest – Spooktacular! Bring an already carved dog-themed jack-o-lantern (real or fake) with your
name taped on the bottom to enter. Winner will be announced at 3:30pm and a prize will be awarded. No candles please.
(Don’t forget to take your entry back home with you for Halloween!)

•   Bobbing for Halloweenies – FUN FOR ALL! Dogs of all sizes will take turns grabbing floating wieners from a pail of water, just
like we typically "bob for apples."

•   Dog Treat Stacking Contest – It’s Jenga, dog treat style! In this tricky contest, human contestants of all ages will have 30 seconds
to see if they can create the tallest tower of dog biscuits.

•   Howl’oween Photo (Boo!)th – Be sure to stop to get your dog’s (or your whole family’s) picture taken with our Howl’oween
backdrop.  All photos will be available for free download on the Pause Dog Boutique Facebook page.

Lisa Fishler of Printz Photography will also be capturing the event through her unique and compassionate perspective. Be sure to check out her website after the event to see the full gallery of photos available for purchase at www.printzphotography.com.
